Tottenham Hotspur youth departure…destination is where the ‘loan legend’ began
Tottenham Hotspur’s Oliver Skipp is attracting interest from Norwich City.
“Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp has been linked with a move away from Norwich, where he spent time on loan, and has received an offer from Leeds United, according to The Athletic. Skip missed just one league game during his loan spell at Norwich in 2020-21, helping the Canaries to the Championship title.”
Tottenham have had a successful transfer window. After finishing eighth in the league last season, Spurs were somewhat underwhelming and are in the midst of a rebuilding process under new manager Enzi Postecoglou. Postecoglou has been focusing on bringing in players that fit his color scheme. Recently, he added Guglielmo Vicario to bolster his goalkeeping and James Maddison to add creativity in attack.
메이저사이트 They’ve also added a winger in Manor Solomon. With Vicario, Maddison, and Solomon in the fold, Tottenham are now on the hunt for a center back, with Wolfsburg’s Mickey van der Vaan the leading candidate so far.
But for every player coming in, there’s a player going out. Spurs have made plans to clear out their midfield resources. Recently, it was reported that they could let Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave. Hojbjerg, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid, has been criticized for not fitting in with Postecoglou’s tactics.
In addition to Hojbjerg, Skip is also on the selling list. According to Alex Crook of British outlet Talk Sport, Tottenham could sell Skip in the summer transfer window if a suitable offer comes in from outside the club.
Skip is a former Tottenham youth player. Born in 2000, Skip came through the Tottenham youth ranks and made his first-team debut in 2018. However, he was unable to capitalize on his opportunities at a young age and was sent out on loan to Norwich in 2020. After gaining experience at Norwich, Skip returned to the club in 2021-22 under Nuno Santu and was a regular at the start of the season. However, a pelvic injury suffered midway through the season saw him miss the second half of the campaign.
However, a series of injuries in the midfield last season saw him gradually get his chance. In the 2022-23 season, Skip made 23 appearances in the league, scoring one goal. That one goal was a dramatic winner at home to Chelsea.
I thought he was starting to get his chance, but he’s not progressing as well as I thought he would. Under Anze Postecoglou, Skip is unlikely to get much of a chance. Although he has been on the pitch during the current pre-season tour, Tottenham have already ruled him out of their plans under Postecoglou. With Norwich rumored to be his next destination, Skip’s future is a little unclear.
