‘Permacine’ Grillish on post-travels: “Malta for the national team? I knew I wasn’t going to make it”
Jack Grealish, who partied after Manchester City’s treble triumph, says he knew he would not be available for the first match of the tournament.
City, led by Josep Guardiola, won the English Premier League, the English Football Association (FA) Cup, and the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in the 2022-2023 season to complete the triple.
The final between Inter Milan and UCL in Turkiye Istanbul on Nov. 11 was the culmination. With the treble secured, the post-match party began, which took them to Manchester and the Spanish island of Ibiza.
Grillish was at the center of the City party. He was caught on camera drinking heavily and stumbling around, causing controversy in England.
He was candid about the controversy. “I knew what I was doing. I usually drink like this at parties. I don’t do it often, but I did it because I won the treble, and it won’t happen again.”
It had been a long season, a year in which he hadn’t really enjoyed it. The joy of winning three trophies soon turned to partying. 토토사이트
“I’m not going to sit here and lie and say I don’t drink and party. There are too many people lying here. I’m honest. I’m living my dream of playing for the best club in the world.”
During the A-match, Grillish was called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers. In the two matches against Malta and North Macedonia, Grealish did not start. He sat out against Malta and came on as a second-half substitute against North Macedonia.
He added: “I have a good relationship with Southgate. I knew in my head that I wasn’t going to play against Malta,” he said.
