Klinsman, aiming to return to the top after 63 years, “I want to go to the final and meet a strong team like Japan”

The Korean national soccer team was in a group with Malaysia, Jordan and Bahrain in the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Asian Cup. Jurgen Klinsmann, the national team coach (59), set the goal of winning the championship.

On the 11th (Korean time), AFC held a grouping event for the Asian Cup to be held in Qatar in January next year. Korea competed in Group E with Malaysia, Jordan and Bahrain. It is evaluated as a relatively easy composition.

Immediately after the group formation, coach Klinsman said that the goal is to win the championship. Coach Klinsman said in an interview with the Korea Football Association, “The first goal is to pass the group stage. I will go through to the top of the group and go to the final to win the championship.” He also said, “Saudi Arabia beat Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Japan beat Germany and Spain. Australia and Iran are good teams, but we are also strong. The goal is to win.”

Regarding the team he wants to meet the most, he said, “I want to meet the strongest team in the finals. It’s not good to meet a rival team like Japan in the round of 16.”

After winning the first tournament in 1956 and the second tournament in 1960, Korea had no Asian Cup title for 63 years. In the meantime, it has been proud as the leader of Asian football, but it has slipped every time in the Asian Cup, which has the greatest authority in the Asian continent. 먹튀검증

Coach Klinsman had set his goal of winning the Asian Cup in Qatar from the time he took office in February. Of course, the 2026 World Cup in North and Central America is the biggest challenge, but we are aiming for the Asian Cup as a short-term goal.

On the other hand, Korea is attracting great attention as it is placed in a group with Malaysia. This is because the head coach leading Malaysia is Kim Pan-gon. Manager Kim Pang-gon served as vice president of the Korea Football Association and senior director of the national team in the past. In the FIFA ranking, Malaysia is 138th, showing a big gap with Korea (27th).
