Kim Yunsik, who went 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA in September after Flutko’s injury… “so I can win the rest of my starts”

LG left-hander Kim Yun-sik (23) snapped the team’s three-game losing streak. Since returning to the first team in September, he has been a big boost to the starting lineup and helped solidify the team’s first place finish.

Kim started the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League game against Hanwha at Daejeon’s Hanwha Life Eagles Park on Sept. 15 and pitched five innings, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and one hit batter while striking out three.

The right-hander earned his fifth win of the season with a 4-3, rain-shortened seventh inning victory. With the win, LG snapped a three-game losing streak and consolidated first place with 71 wins, 47 losses and two draws, 5.5 games behind second-place KT (67 wins, 54 losses and three draws).

Kim Yun-sik, who won his second straight game after allowing one run in 5⅔ innings against KIA in Gwangju on Aug. 8, has rebounded with a 2.87 ERA in three games since returning to the first team in September. LG was fortunate to have Yun-sik back after foreign pitcher Adam Plutko left the game against Changwon NC on September 26 with a left pelvic bone contusion.

The beginning of the game was uneasy. A hit-by-pitch and a walk put runners on first and second in the first inning, but Chae Eun-sung struck out swinging and Choi In-ho grounded out to second to keep the inning scoreless. However, after giving up a walk to Choi Jae-hoon in the second inning, they gave up three runs on three hits to Nick Williams, Moon Hyun-bin, and Kim Tae-yeon.

It looked like he might fall apart early, but he didn’t. He settled down in the third inning when the rain let up. He retired the side in order on 11 pitches in the third and got a break in the fourth when Williams singled, but Lee Jin-young’s grounder to short turned into a fielder’s choice. After striking out Lee Do-yoon and getting Moon Hyun-bin to ground out to second to end the fourth, Kim Yun-sik struck out Kim Tae-yeon (grounder to shortstop), Noh Si-hwan (grounder to first base), and Chae Eun-sung (grounder to left field) with six pitches in the fifth to secure the win 소닉카지노.

Totaled 81 pitches, 47 strikes and 34 balls. He topped out at 145 mph and averaged 141 mph with a fastball (38), slider (23), changeup (15), and curve (5).

After the game, Kim Yun-sik said, “It wasn’t easy as it kept raining in the first inning or two, but my brothers scored runs and I was able to hold on with that. The ground was bad and the plate was very slippery, and I couldn’t throw my pitches properly, but I think I found my groove as the rain stopped in the third inning.” The rain in the second inning made it difficult for him to pitch normally, but he didn’t let that stop him.

Kim Yun-sik continued, “Hanwha batters have been hitting well lately, so I tried to dig in according to my analysis, but I had trouble controlling my changeup. Both my fastball and changeup didn’t work well. I think I need to pay more attention to my pitches in the next game,” he said.

Finally, Kim Yun-sik vowed to “thank the fans for coming out despite the bad weather, and I will try to win all my remaining games.”
