Inter pull off miraculous ‘double’…beat Fiorentina in Coppa Italia final for ninth title
Inter Milan has won the Coppa Italia title.
Inter Milan, led by head coach Simone Inzaghi, defeated ACF Fiorentina 2-1 in the 2022-2023 Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy, on Sunday (May 25). Lautaro Martinez scored a brace in the 28th and 37th minutes to lift the Nerazzurri past Fiorentina, who were held to a single goal by Nicolas Gonzalez in the third minute of the first half.
Fiorentina started well. Bonaventura played a pass from the left to Ikone, who laid it off to Gonzalez, who surged into the center. Gonzalez slotted the ball past the keeper.
The pressure was on. In the 11th minute, Amrabat’s right-footed shot from outside the box went wide.
Inter Milan had their best chance in the 24th minute when Zeko found himself one-on-one with the keeper after a pass from Martinez, but the ball sailed high. Four minutes later, Brozovic’s attempt to get behind the opposition was cleared off the line by Martinez.
In the 37th minute, Martinez was on fire again. A long cross from the right flank was not fully cleared by the Fiorentina defense and Varela was able to leap and finish the cross into the penalty box.
Fiorentina had shots on target through Cabral and Gonzalez, but none of them could get past Handanovic. 먹튀검증
This is Inter Milan’s ninth title in the competition. It is also their second consecutive title after winning the competition last season. They lost the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A crown to SSC Napoli, but won the Coppa Italia. They will face Manchester City in the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League final. A miraculous ‘double’ is possible at the end of the season.
After winning the Coppa Italia, Inzaghi said: “We won the trophy we really wanted and I’m happy to have won it for the second time in a row. We faced a strong opponent who caused us a lot of problems. We didn’t have a good start to the game, but the players held on. We scored two goals and Fiorentina pressured us after halftime, but we held on, so I’m happy.”
