“Everyone in the S zone came in and the ball was good” Super rookie’s first pitching feat, the catcher who received the ball gave a thumbs up

“The control was good and the tip of the ball was good”.

KIA Tigers super rookie Yoon Young-chul (18) received a passing grade in his first bullpen pitching.

On the 4th (Korean time), he pitched in the bullpen at Spring Camp in Tucson, Arizona, USA. He put catcher Shin Beom-soo down and threw 35 pitches. He checked his pitches, including his fastball, changeup, curveball and slider. It was his first bullpen pitching, so it was about lightly spraying with 60-70% power.

Yoon Young-chul is the only rookie among the players participating in the camp. He was knocked out in the first round of the 2023 rookie. He plays an active role as the ace of Chungam High School, and is immediately evaluated as a sense of power by showing his excellent command of the ball, command of the breaking ball, and ability to manage the game.

He can be used as a 5th starter and also as a left-handed bullpen. Best case scenario is a 5 starter. If Yoon Young-cheol settles down as a starter, he can use Lim Ki-young as a long man responsible for starting and 2 innings, and left-hander Kim Ki-hoon can be a sure win for the bullpen.

So, interest in Yoon Young-cheol’s first pitch was gathered. Yoon Young-chul, who finished the mound, said, “I was very nervous. I threw as much as I could. I threw about 60 to 70 percent. (Catcher Shin Beom-soo) caught the ball well. There are many things I regret, so I will gradually make up for it.”

He then expressed some regret, saying, “I am satisfied with my fastball control to some extent. However, there is a feeling that the ball is flying. There are also a few breaking balls that are missing, so I need to improve. I will make 100% of my body until the first actual game.” 메이저놀이터

Shin Beom-soo, who received the ball, was generous. “I like the ball,” he encouraged Yoon Young-cheol, who was nervous because it was his first bullpen pitching, to fight, and applauded, saying, “Your changeup is very good.”

Overall, Shin Bum-soo evaluated through the PR team, “The ball was good enough to enter the strike zone well for both the fastball and the breaking ball. It was the first pitch, so it seemed like a light throw, but the ball tip was good.” He was evaluated as raising expectations for the super rookie’s next pitching.
