‘Eastern Slayer’ Hanwha Life uses weight class to defeat OK Brion 2-1 (Overall)
It was a familiar storyline and a familiar pattern for the Eastern Slayers. Hanwha recorded their seventh win of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over OK Brion.
Hanwha Life was on the verge of an upset after losing the first set against OK Brion in the second round of the LOL Champions Korea (LCK) Summer 2023 at the LCK Arena in Jongno, Seoul, on Friday afternoon, but the team rebounded well to take the second and third sets to win 2-1. Kim “Zeca” Gun-woo and Hwang “KingGen” Sung-hoon became the center of the team’s play with their solid performances, giving the team its seventh win. 메이저놀이터
With the win, Hanwha Life moved to fifth place with a season record of 7-5 and a goal differential of +5, closing the gap on the top four teams by half a game. OK Brion, who were looking to extend their winning streak, unfortunately suffered their ninth loss of the season (3W, -12G) and dropped one spot to ninth.
Recognizing Hanwha Life’s tendency to dominate games with their weight after the midpoint, OK Brion quickly snowballed and took control of the early game. After losing back-to-back barons, Hanwha Life was forced to adjust to OK Brion’s slow pace.
However, in the second set, Hanwha Life played to their strengths and didn’t give OK Brion time to snowball. Using their weight advantage to buy time, Hanwha took advantage of the lineup and landed kills at their preferred times to tie the game at 1-1.
With the momentum now in their favor, Hanwha steadily rolled the snowball through the middle of the third set, thanks to the play of Hwang “KingGen” Seong-hoon. After picking up two consecutive Nasher Baron, Hanwha took Dragon’s Soul and shattered OK Brion’s nexus.
