Bucheon defeated Gimpo FC 2-0 in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at Bucheon Sports Complex in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, on Sept. 29. With the three points, Bucheon (25 points) moved up to fourth place, closing in on third-place Gimpo (26 points), which suffered its first defeat in 13 matches.

Ahn Jae-jun was the hero of the match. Ahn drew a penalty kick in the fifth minute of the second half as he penetrated into the penalty box. The ball hit the arm of an opposing defender who was blocking him, and after a video assistant referee (VAR) review, a penalty kick was awarded. Ahn stepped up to take the spot kick and aimed for the left side of the goal. The ball sailed past goalkeeper Lee Sang-wook and into the net. Bucheon then added a late goal from Park Hyung-jin in the 40th minute to secure a valuable victory.

Speaking in the post-match mix zone, Ahn said, “Gimpo is a very tricky team to play against. They are definitely solid and play a lot. I’m happy that we got a two-goal win against Gimpo, who are unbeaten and have conceded the fewest goals. Ahn scored from the penalty spot for the first time in his three-year K League career. He showed his determination to finish, and his teammates gave him the opportunity.
